Our Diversity. Cologne’s Strength.

The Campaign

The excitement was great when our CEO, Fabienne, walked in with the news that we had been selected to develop the diversity campaign for the City of Cologne. The campaign ran under the title “Unsere Vielfalt. Köln Stärke.” (Our Diversity. Cologne’s Strength.) – a message that not only reflects the heart of the city, but also the identity of our own team.

Diversity is one of Allround Team’s greatest strengths. The topic could not have been a more natural fit. For years, Fabienne has been a passionate advocate for the recognition of “otherness”. Growing up in Ethiopia and speaking six languages, she brings a deep understanding of intercultural communication – and consistently demonstrates that different backgrounds, perspectives, and lived realities are not reasons for exclusion, but sources of enrichment for any community. Her commitment extends far beyond the agency’s daily work: whether at the Cologne Chamber of Commerce, the German Diversity Charter, or the German Diabetes Aid Gala, Fabienne contributes experience, conviction, and heart to important social conversations.

This mindset shaped the conception and execution of the campaign. Across several workshops, Fabienne guided around 20 participants from diverse Cologne communities through intensive evening sessions. People of different origins, religions, sexual identities, age groups, and life experiences came together to co‑create a campaign that unites rather than divides. The focus was on what they share – on what defines Cologne as a community.

After the very first workshop, one thing became clear: the emotional connection to Cologne is strong. So why not make the city itself the unifying element of the campaign? The Cologne Cathedral – a symbol of home, history, and togetherness – became the backdrop for the five campaign posters. In the foreground: a park bench where real encounters took place. Cologne residents from all walks of life were photographed there, in conversation, natural and unposed.

The photoshoot was a true highlight. The atmosphere on set was warm, open, and full of energy. Participants not only had fun – they genuinely felt they were contributing to something meaningful. The resulting images capture exactly that spirit: they convey diversity, closeness, and authenticity. It was moving to see how quickly trust developed and how each person was able to bring their own strengths into the moment.

A clear statement for lived diversity in Cologne. The campaign sends a powerful message: diversity in Cologne is not just a political goal, but a human need. And it shows that creative work becomes truly impactful when it is driven by real stories, real people, and real conviction.

We are proud to have been part of this project – and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to an open, respectful, and diverse urban community through our work.
