Patient‑centered communication
Putting people at the center
To think and act in a patient‑centered way means seeing the whole person – their experiences, needs, fears, and hopes. It means not just talking about patients, but talking with them. Their perspective is both the starting point and the compass for our communication. Because only those who listen can truly understand. And only those who understand can communicate effectively.
This mindset shapes our work at every level – from concept development to design and the implementation of campaigns, formats, and content. We question established narratives, avoid stereotypical portrayals, and create space for real stories. Prejudices, ingrained habits, and assumptions are consciously left at the door. Instead, we rely on empathy, respect, and authenticity.
One example of this approach is our video on Acne Inversa, created in close collaboration with AbbVie. The goal was to shed light on a condition often associated with shame and social isolation – and to place the lived reality of those affected at the center. No glossy staging, but honest insights. No distant expert perspective, but personal stories and real experiences.
At the heart of the video are people living with Acne Inversa. They speak about their daily lives, their challenges, and how they navigate the condition – as well as their desire for greater understanding. The visual approach follows a simple but powerful principle: closeness instead of distance, dignity instead of pity. The individuals portrayed are never reduced to their diagnosis; they are shown as whole personalities – strong, vulnerable, self‑determined.
This project demonstrates what effective medical communication can look like when it is consistently guided by the needs of patients. It shows how attitude and design work hand in hand to create visibility, foster understanding, and enable dialogue.
Because in the end, it’s not just about information – it’s about people. And about meeting them with respect, openness, and genuine attention.
